About us
We have a laid-back, small, but very busy practice and are looking for an experienced litigation paralegal to join our growing lawfirm in Jacksonville, Texas.
Our work environment includes:
We are flexible on part/full-time and flexible on remote/in-office though will need someone in the office for several hours at least 3 days a week. As such, candidates who live more than 60 miles away may not be a good fit for this position unless the candidate really likes driving!
We are not micro-managers and expect employees to responsibly complete their tasks with assistance but without being constantly monitored. As such, the candidate must be self-driven and able to work independently. The ideal candidate will be very energetic, positive, comfortable with technology (including PACER, eFile Texas, Lexis, Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Pro), proficient typist, understand and comply with deadlines, and have good organizational skills. This candidate will also have either family and personal injury litigation experience. This position includes interaction with the Courts, clients, opposing counsel, and their staff. Professional communication skills are essential.
Responsibilities:
- Assist attorneys in all phases of litigation, including discovery, trial preparation, and post-trial activities
- Draft pleadings, motions, discovery, and discovery responses
- Assist with trial preparation, including witness preparation and exhibit organization
- Assist with typing
- Maintain communication with clients, opposing counsel, and court personnel
- Monitoring and maintaining calendars including scheduling depositions and hearings as well as deadlines;
Requirements:
- Preferred - Bachelor's degree or paralegal certificate from an accredited program
- Preferred - 2 years of experience as a litigation paralegal
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong technological abilities
Skills:
- Knowledge of legal procedures relevant to litigation cases
- Organizational skills to maintain case files and documents in an orderly manner
- Paralegal experience preferred
- Familiarity with legal drafting and administrative tasks related to litigation matters
- Clerical skills for managing calendars, scheduling appointments, and maintaining records
